One of my favorite bikes in the 2001 season of MotoGP. I think it is the clean black and white design that appeals to me. I wanted to do this bike for a long time but at the same time I wanted to wait until I wasn't that much of a beginner. Not that you'll ever master this craft but I wanted to be really happy with the result. I think I am.

I exchanged all the cables and wires with fishing line instead of the off scale rubber hose offered in the box. I drilled out the discs and applied clear tubing from the brake fluid caps and from the tank. I spent some time detailing the handles and I'm pretty satisfied.
I super detailed the chain and put some serious effort into painting heat stains on the exhaust. I had to do it brush wise because I don't have a compressor yet. With that in mind I'm fairly satisfied. It doesn't look GREAT but I've learned a trick or to for my following projects.

The kit is lacking the tobacco sponsor markings which are replaced with "Alex" and "Loris" logos. I ordered the sponsor logos from Ragged edge design in Australia and got the whole 2001 pack (West, Gauloises and Marlboro). All of the decals, including the white areas wich shades in to black fell in place using only hot water, Q-tip and a towel. The glue on the West decals didn't stand to be rinsed before clear coated so I put them back in place using MicroSol.

As always with Tamiya the partas almost falls into place. Nice to work with but remember to use the right parts from the extra molding tree. I spent some time with the wrong front fender...
