This was my very first
attempt on building a 1/12 scale motorcycle and needless to say I
did a few beginners errors allready during the preparations. The
parts of the Taira racing YZR has an excellent fit but I used too
much putty in the joints of the rear cowling parts and the tank. I
was too eager to finish the build to take care of this which is
visible on the finished model. I also didn't wash the parts prior to
painting which also made the result look a bit like sh*t
Drilled out the holes
in the brake discs. Looks much more realistic that way.
A chapter on its own.
Decals is something you have to take your time applying. Not much
decals on this model as such but I ended up with a cut in the faded
black decal on the lower engine cowling. The CF decals for the rear
fender doesn't look too convincing and they would also have come in
place easier if I had known of such things as MicroSet and MicroSol...
Nice looking bike wich
could have turned out better if I had some skill... I had not
learned to thin the acrylics which led to visible paint brush
strokes. A LOT of finger prints in semi dry paint (before I learned
to use gloves while painting). I also painted the fairings and
cowling parts with too heavy coats of TS-17.
