This is a standard Antenna 3 ´99 kit from Tamiya wich is turned into the factory Marlboro bike from the same year. I've used a Museum Collection decal sheet and some minor detail up parts but it is pretty basic. I built this kit together with the ´00 Marlboro kit and the two ´01 kits from the same team. All three are found in the gallery.

Basic detailing is acomplished by drilling out holes that Tamiya replicated as recessed areas. On this kit these areas are found on the rear brake disc, sprocket cover and foot peg brackets.

Using the disc ring from the Crazy Modeler -m1 ´04 photo etch set it is easy to paint the front brake discs.

Using carbon fibre decals from Scale Motorsport is a great way to highlighten details, here are a few parts.
On this multi build I thouht I'd try a new technique spotted in the air craft section. To highlighten the weld seams of the exhausts I masked the seams off with masking tape and then air brushed a thin line of black before puttin on some silver leaf. The result is quit promising.

I've always have had problems painting the engine/air box part properly on these "older" kits where they come in one piece. This time I painted the air boxes, masked them off starting with very thin stripes of tape, and the painted the engines. Last I masked the block off and painted the carburators. Got some good results out of this pretty time consuming technique.

The 1999 Marlboro bike had the Marlboro lettering spelled out on white undernieth the classic white triangle. This has to be masked off and painted as there are no white decals with the sheet. I started painting the side and under cowl racing white. Using thin stripes I then layed the basic shape on the side cowls looking at ref pics. After masking off the white section I painted the cowl Bright red. Both white and red are from Zero paints.

Tire decals went on wthout problems, these tend to loose their grip pretty soon when I attach them but so far so good. Picture shows tyres for all four bikes.
